The Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Partnership scooped the award for Community Contribution of the Year at the News’ Business Excellence Awards.
The award was won for the Partnership’s Business Champions scheme; a project which enables local businesses to donate expertise and resources to their local community.
Marion Dawson said: “I am delighted that the Partnership has won the award for Community Contribution of the year on behalf of the Business Champions for the Community. It is an honour to work with local businesses who take time out of their busy schedules to give their expertise and resources to local community groups. The contribution they make is invaluable to these groups who otherwise would not have the funds to pay for the professional help they require to build their organisations.”
The work that the Business Champions have done recently is widely varied. Carl Leroy-Smith, a Director of Deer Park Alpha, designed plans for a new changing room at Bransbury Park in Portsmouth as part of the Portsmouth Respect project. Mark Trapani, Group Managing Director of Snows, helped with business planning for St Clare’s pre-school group in Warren Park, Havant.
The eighth annual awards celebrates the best in business across Portsmouth and south east Hampshire and was hosted by BBC South Today presenter Sally Taylor. A full list of the awards, and the winners, is published on the News website.
